It’s Thursday afternoon, two days before the Generation Kplus award ceremony. Jub Clerc (director of Sweet As) takes some time out of her day to talk to Konstantin and me about her debut feature film that captures the coming-of-age experience of an Indigenous girl called Murra. Freie Generation Reporter:innen: Congratulations on your debut feature film. How does it feel? Jub Clerc: *jokes* It’s no big deal! A comment on Sweet As. German version here. It is a colorful group gathered in front of the bus to set off on a journey together. Murra, who can no longer stay with her drug-addicted mother. Sean, who keeps thinking about killing himself. Kiley, who is being abused by her boyfriend. And Elvis, who is not the same after an earlier incident. The two supervisors know what they are getting into, and yet it is not easy for them to get a grip on these four teenagers. Eine Kritik zu Sweet As. Es ist eine bunte Gruppe, die vor dem Bus versammelt steht und auf eine gemeinsame Reise aufbrechen soll. Murra, die nicht mehr bei ihrer drogenabhängigen Mutter bleiben kann. Sean, der immer wieder daran denkt, sich umzubringen. Kiley, die von ihrem Freund misshandelt wird. Und Elvis, der nach einem Vorfall nicht mehr derselbe ist. Die zwei Betreuer:innen wissen, worauf sie sich einlassen, und doch ist es nicht einfach für sie, diese vier Teenager in den Griff zu bekommen.
