Natürlich Leben? Mit dieser Frage wollen wir die Filme der diesjährigen Berlinale betrachten.
Denn auch wenn ich in der Großstadt aufgewachsen bin und ich das Stadtleben mit all seinen individuellen Menschen und der vielen Kultur und natürlich der Bequemlichkeit genieße, zieht es mich sehr stark in die Natur und zum „Ursprünglichen“, ein Leben bestimmt von Sinnhaftigkeit und Freiheit und Ruhe der Gedanken und des Seins. Oft frage ich mich, wie ich geworden wäre, wäre ich in anderer Umgebung aufgewachsen. Wie hat es mich geprägt, so selten von „Natürlichem“ umgeben zu sein? Wie wichtig ist es, dass wir den Bezug zur Natur mit ihrer Genialität und Funktionalität behalten? Wie doll ist unser Körper und unsere Psyche an die heutige Welt voller Technik, Bildschirme, Digitalität, Künstlichkeit, an die Großstädte, Menschenmassen und ihre Geschwindigkeit angepasst? Ist dieser „Fortschritt“ nicht was Wundervolles, mit all der Akzeptanz die damit einhergeht und der einfachen Verbindung von Menschen, den Möglichkeiten die sie mit sich bringt und die Bequemlichkeit die es uns ermöglicht, sich mit Themen zu beschäftigen, die sonst auf der Strecke geblieben wären? Oder ist es nur ein Schein, dass diese Dinge zutreffen, sind wir nicht eigentlich total entbunden und unruhig und überfordert und zerstören Stück für Stück den Planeten auf dem wir leben?
Ich weiß es ganz ehrlich ganz und gar nicht und bin mir unsicher, welches Leben das sinnvollste wäre. Und ich erwarte natürlich auch nicht, bei der Berlinale alle Antworten auf so große Fragen zu finden. Ich weiß nur, dass ich feststelle, nun wo ich langsam immer wieder aus meiner Blase in der ich aufgewachsen bin herauskomme, dass es ja gar nicht nur die eine Lebensweise gibt, sondern so viele verschiedene Menschen mit verschiedenen Ideen und Konzepten und dass meine heutige Art zu sein keine ist, mit der ich komplett zufrieden bin. Und ich glaube, dass mir die Kinder und Jugendlichen der folgenden Filme bestimmt ganz schön viel beibringen können, einfach nur indem sie mir ihre Perspektive aufs Leben zeigen und ihre Verbindung zu Traditionen, zu dem Ort, an dem sie aufgewachsen sind und natürlich zur Natur.
Wir freuen uns darauf, die Filme des diesjährigen Generation Programmes der Berlinale auf natürliche Weise zu betrachten und uns auf Begegnungen mit und über die Natur einzulassen.

Natural Living
Natural Living? With this question in mind we want to look at the movies of this years Berlinale.
While growing up in the big city and enjoying things that come with that, like the immense diversity of culture and people around you as well as the comfort, I do have a strong longing for nature and a native life, one guided by reasonable decisions, feeling free as well as peace of mind and soul. Often I wonder, how I would have developed, if I had grown up in a different environment. How did not being around “natural things” often shape me? How important is it to stay in touch with nature and all its brilliance and functionality? How well are our bodies and minds actually adjusted to todays world full of technology, digital screens, artificiality, to the major cities, big crowds and their hustle? Isn’t this “progress” something wonderful, going hand in hand with so much acceptance, being able to connect easily with one another, giving us so many opportunities and a comfortable life, that enables us to deal with topics, that we otherwise wouldn’t have the time to spend a single thought on? Or does it only seem that way and are we, in reality, so out of touch with ourselves, feeling unsteady and overwhelmed, while destroying this planet we are living on day by day?
I truly don’t know at all and I could not jump to any conclusion about which kind of life would make most sense. And of course I do not demand from the Berlinale to give me all the answers to such big questions. I just know, growing older and stepping out of my comfort zones, that there are so many ways to live, so many people on this earth with their very own ideas and concepts, that I might find a way to be that offers me a bit more, than the life I live right now. I believe, that the kids and teens of the following movies can teach me soso much, just by showing me their perspective on life, their connection to traditions, the place they grew up in and, of course, to nature.
We are truly looking forward to look at the movies of the annual Berlinale Generation Program with the topic “natural living” in mind and let ourselves in for encounters with and about nature.
