Donnernder Applaus im Haus der Kulturen der Welt. Um mich herum stehen die Leute auf. Ich spüre wie auch meine Beine sich bewegen. Die Moderatorin versucht das Wort zu ergreifen, aber das anhaltende Klatschen des Publikums lässt sie wieder verstummen. Die Premiere von „Espero tua revolta“ hat das Publikum bewegt und auf diese Weise will man Solidarität zu zeigen.
Der brasilianische Dokumentarfilm „Espero tua revolta“ zeigt wie Jugendliche in Brasilien für das Recht auf Bildung, Gleichheit und Gerechtigkeit auf die Straße gehen. In gesammelten Videoaufnahmen von 2014 bis 2018 sehen wir wie die Schüler für ihre Rechte kämpfen. Erschreckende Bilder von Polizeigewalt und ausufernden Konfrontationen demonstrieren die Wirklichkeit der jungen Aktivisten. Aber gleichzeitig blühen die Jugendlichen in ihrer Gemeinschaft auf. Sie sind füreinander da, sie halten zusammen, komme was wolle. Sie schaffen ihren eigenen Raum, sowohl örtliche wie auch emotional. Örtlich weil die Jugendlichen die geschlossenen Schulen des Landes besetzen und die Wiederöffnung fordern. Emotional weil sie in ihrer Gemeinschaft einen Raum schaffen in dem Feminismus, Homosexualität und das Anderssein willkommen sind.
Die ersten Minuten des Filmes überfordern mich sehr, denn es strömen unzählige Sinneseindrücke auf mich ein. Videoaufnahmen von Protesten, die nur für Sekunden aufblitzen, wechselnde Stimmen die das Geschehen kommentieren, Untertitel die gelesen werden wollen, Musik die den Rhythmus vorgibt. Ich komme nicht hinterher. Bevor ich einen Videoausschnitt wahrnehmen kann, beginnt der nächste. Doch langsam mäßigt sich das Tempo und ich finde mich in dem Geflecht von Sinneseindrücken zu recht. Ich bin überwältigt von dem Mut und Kampfgeist der jungen Brasilianer*innen und kann nicht fassen wie wenig ich von der Situation Brasiliens weiß. Gierig sauge ich die Informationen auf.
Regisseurin Eliza Capai glaubt an die Macht der Kunst. Mit „Espero tua revolta“ will sie Menschen überall auf der Welt die Ereignissen in Brasilien näher zu bringen. Sie möchte aber auch zeigen, dass gegen die Ungerechtigkeit gekämpft wird, dass junge Menschen die Möglichkeit haben etwas an der Realität zu ändern. „Espero tua revolta“ soll so viele Menschen wie möglich erreichen und bewegen. Deshalb kündigt Eliza Capai nach dem Screening an, dass der Film demnächst übers Internet für alle verfügbar sein soll. Ob der Film in Brasilien gezeigt wird ist im Moment fraglich, denn Jair Bolsonaro, der rechtsextreme Präsident Brasiliens, hat angekündigt das Land vor Aktivisten zu „säubern“. Die Regisseurin hat Angst was mit dem Jugendlichen passieren könnte, wenn der Film in Brasilien gezeigt wird. Doch die jungen Menschen lassen sich davon nicht einschüchtern. Sie wollen, dass der Film gezeigt wird: Jetzt erst recht! Und auch die 19 Jährige Marcela, eine der Hauptprotagonisten, steht fest auf beiden Beinen. Mit einem selbstbewussten lächeln steht sie auf der Bühne des Haus der Kulturen der Welt. Ihre letzten Worte an das Publikum: „Sei ein Rebell in jedem Teil deines Lebens!“

Standing ovation at the House of World Cultures. I feel my legs moving too. The moderator tries to start the Q&A, but the continuous clapping of the audience silences her. The premiere of „Espero tua revolta“ has moved the audience and in this way one wants to show solidarity.
The Brazilian documentary „Espero tua revolta“ shows the protest og young brazilians in their fight for education, equality and justice. The fim combines video clips from 2014 to 2018. Frightening images of police violence and escalating confrontations demonstrate the reality of the young activists. But at the same time the young people are flourishing in their community. They take care of each other, they stick together, no matter what happens. They create their own space, both local and emotional. Local because the young people occupy the closed schools of the country and demand the reopening. Emotional because they create a space in their community where feminism, homosexuality and beeing different is accepted.
The first minutes of the film do overwhelm me very much. Bso many impressions! Video recordings of protests that flash only for seconds, changing voices that comment on the events, subtitles that want to be read, music that sets the rhythm. I’m lost in impressions. Before I can perceive a video clip the next one starts. But slowly the tempo moderates and I find my way through the web of sensory impressions. I am overwhelmed by the courage and fighting spirit of the young Brazilians and can’t believe how little I know about their situation. I greedily absorb the information.
Director Eliza Capai believes in the power of art. With „Espero tua revolta“ she wants to bring the events in Brazil closer to people all over the world. But she also wants to show that there is a fight against injustice and that young people have the opportunity to change the reality. „Espero tua revolta“ should reach and move as many people as possible. Therefore Eliza Capai announces that the movie soon will be available to all via the Internet. Whether the film will be shown in Brazil is a question at the moment, because Jair Bolsonaro, the extreme right-wing president of Brazil, has announced to „clean up“ the country from activists. The director is afraid of what might happen to the youg Protagonist if the film is shown in Brazil. But the young people are not intimidated by it. They want the film to be shown: Now more than ever! And the 19-year-old Marcela, one of the main protagonists, also stands firmly on both feet. With a self-confident smile she stands on the stage of Berlins House of World Cultures. Her last words to the audience: „Be a rebel in every part of your life“.
